We were in the area and looked this place up based on yelp reviews. I don’t know who is reviewing the place but they can’t be legitimate reviews. I feel bad writing a bad review for a family owned business but our experience was horrible from start to finish. First, we waited 1 hr for the food to arrive. The place was half empty so I can’t imagine how long you wait if the place is busy. I ordered fajitas and was happy when it finally arrived until I took my first bite. The meat was so over cooked, it was inedible. Both steak and chicken were destroyed and shrimp not much better. I don’t like to waste food but after a few bites I was ready to throw it in the garbage.
The food was amazing, so fresh and flavorful. The portions were huge. I wish they were in or close to Philly, so I could eat here more.
Steak Tough on chimi chinga.berito ok.little pricey for what your getting. And no free nachos to go with 14 dollar conga. Tacolicious(toms River) is the hands down winner .
I cannot say anything about the food that has not already been said.. what I really enjoy is the atmosphere. The authentic Mexican attire that surrounds the establishment is very fun to look at. The colors of the restaurant are very Aztec.. and when I heard the Mexican conversation that was coming from the kitchen it made me smile. Like as though I was back at home.. very honest place. And the flan gets ordered by the whole pie. I have ordered it several times just to bring as a dessert.. my wife and I usually eat their two to three times a month.. we bring friends.. We bring family. And some of the people just look familiar.. Oh yeah. And when those sizzling fajitas come out from the kitchen it is like hearing the birthday song everybody looks to see who's getting at.. thanks for keeping your customers smiling and full..
Awesome food! Very authentic and great taste! Allowed us to sit outside with our dog. which I always appreciate :)!
Soooooo Gooooood!! I eat here with my family a few times a year. We love the vibe. The food is always awesome!!! I look forward to our next visit!!
Real authentic Mexican, portions are super and everything is scratch made down to the coconut flan and stuffed churros.
Delicious, Nice portions, authentic
Everything was authentic, fresh and delicious! Nachos, entrees and desert. Service is quick and friendly. We will definitely be coming back. Place is cozy and very clean.
Avoid for take outI’ve been here at least a dozen times. Food is great, but also inconsistent. If you’re dining in, you’ll most likely have a pleasant experience. If you plan on getting take out, you’re better off going anywhere else. They consistently (literally every time I’ve gone) taken double the amount of time they tell you to have your food ready. If they say it’ll be ready In 30 minutes, you can arrive after 30 minutes and expect to be standing and waiting for at least another 30 minutes. Sometimes, the wait has been an additional 45 minutes to an hour over the time that they gave. Honestly, nobody has this kind of time to waste, and it’s bad business practice to consistently be doing this your customers. - Good food- Decent service (they’re always short staffed, but they try) - Horrible wait times for take out (yes, when calling ahead)
The food was very good, but the service was very very slow. There was only one other table there when we got there and they were already served. One of the employees I believe the daughter of the owner (since she said my mom said we should start cleaning up if we are slow) fixed herself food and ate it in the dinning room while she watched something on her phone (loudly). She would answer the phone for take out orders or questions all while sitting there, never once getting up to help in the kitchen or anything to help speed things along.
How beautiful this place treated us. I’m extremely satisfied. I came to the beach for the day and me and my friends were so hungry. I was going crazy looking for some Spanish food while they wanted Wendy’s. We stopped here. I ordered my food and it came in a nice timing! once I got in the car with my take out, they tasted my food and they immediately changed their minds. We all ended up eating here and I’m 100% happy that I found it. Thank you for your service!! The staff is so nice too. Don’t hesitate on coming here
If one day you go to the beach you definitely have to stop here, the food has an authentic mexican taste, the waitress is very kind and the place so cozy i always knew the place was good but exceeded my expectations.
Great food, all in the group enjoyed their meals. Portion s we're large no one left hungry and some with leftovers enough for lunch the next day. Suggest you try this place out.
Food was great. Jackson the server was awesome.
Fantastic authentic mexican restaurant! Along with reasonable prices, it's BYO!! We always enjoy it!
Hands down, the best authentic Mexican food I've had anywhere. It's one of Point Pleasant's hidden treasures. If you spent the day at the beach, you want to relax and you just don't feel like cooking, Tornandez is your spot!
1 stars because the food was decent but I waited 2 hours for food. I had a party of 4 so that's the ONLY reason I stayed and paid. Had I been by myself I would of ate the food and left without paying. We had to ask for our drinks and chips. No one told us how long the wait was. This was TERRIBLE!
Food here is always made to order. It's always delicious! And the people are so nice.
Excellent food great price.
Small family run restaurant with excellent, authentic, fresh food. Very reasonable prices and clean. I've been to many Mexican restaurants in my life, and this place possibly ranks as the best one I've eaten at. The owner is very pleasant and seems to truly appreciate her customers. The server was her daughter, who provided excellent, professional service. I will definitely be returnig to this fine establishment!
Food was decent but the service was slow and seem disinterested
This is a great small business restaurant. The owner is the greeter, waitress and cook. I love to patronize small businesses esp where I live. The food was great and what would call authentic Mexican food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Fresh doesn't say enough. Amazing food...
When you walk through the door, you smell the amazing food. It's beautifully decorated with cultural paintings. My sister and I both ordered the beef empanadas with rice and beans and my brother in-law had the chicken chimichanga. Both entrees were full of deliciousness. Perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The horchata is amazing! The owner Minerva, is super awesome. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in Jersey. This Arizona girl highly recommends eating here. 😀
Been coming here since they opened. Mole Poblano is 2nd to none. A wonderful family restaurant!
Excellent mexican food. Low key. Reasonable prices.
The place closed down, it was excellent food
Excellent Mexican food.
Delicious and fresh food. It took a little while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait. Will definitely be going back!
Fast service and excellent food. Never disappointed.
Real authentic Mexican food. Byob. Friendly staff
Went here for lunch on my birthday the food was excellent I got the chicken Huaraches and chicken tacos and it was so delicious I ate everything off the plate and the place is run by a family who is very friendly , I can't wait until I'm back in the area and can eat here again, we left overly satisfied.
Service was great. Food even greater. Fajitas are in the top 5 I've had. Molé sauce at $4.50 a side I thought was expensive but hey, everything else is well priced.
Horrible, don’t waste your time and money. Waited well over an hour for a plain burrito on a piece of wax paper. No sauce or anything else on the plate. Cut it open to see just plain dry chopmeat. Looked just like a chopped up hamburger. I refused to eat it and the owner refused to take it off the bill. Save your money and time. It is not worth waiting even 10 minutes. 👎
Normally we would go to a different Mexican restaurant in town, but they were closed, reportedly with building-related electrical issues. While we had some decidedly mediocre take-out last year from this place, we decided to give them another chance. As we ordered (6:30pm on a Tuesday), we find out that they are out of avocado, and hence guacamole. This would be an important omen, although we didn't pick up on it at the time. No worries, we thought. After what should have been a simple two meals with no special orders, we figured we would be eating in fifteen minutes or so. There were 4 tables seated, and only one double ordered ahead of us. Forty-five minutes after ordering, we were told food would be out "soon". An hour after ordering, we were told food would be out "soon". Soon did not arrive in time and we left, never to return.
Authentic family owned/operated place. Tasty food and good prices. Does takeout. Very small in little strip mall.
Some old lady (customer) was rude to my daughter
Outstanding!! The food was fresh and delicious. Staff made me feel right at home. Highly recommend. BYO
Friendly staff, fantastic food, and large portions. Great small restaurant. Cozy.
Was good Mexican food. Disappointing they are out of pork chops. So we couldn't taste the house specialty which is why we went in the first place. Service was ok. Chips and salsa were really good. We plan to give it another try.
service was pretty good it was great to see that it was a family operated restaurant they also accommodated our needs Excellent food nice size portions highly recommended.
Really love the food here! Have tried many things on the menu over the years and it is always great.
We eat here two or three times a month. It is a great family owned business. Very authentic. Everything is very well seasoned. Keep up the good work. I will continue my patronage.
Stopped in for a quick lunch. It was so good I had two, by myself!
Great food and really good, patient employees. I highly recommend the Al Pastor!
Appears to be permanently closed, per a tax lien notice posted on the entrance. It's a shame. The food was terrific, portions were plentiful, and the service was great. I hope they can get their issues straightened out and try again.
Fantastic food, large portions and great atmosphere
The best Pico de gallo you will find anywhere.
Food was great as usual
